The problem
Daily X-ray data folders on the factory shares could go missing, or the disk could fill, without anyone noticing.
What I built
A Python service in Docker that mounts the Windows shares, checks every 12 hours, and emails only the factory with a problem.
Key features
- Checks each machine’s folder exists for the day
- Disk-space thresholds in GB and percent
- Grouped by factory; alerts only where there is a problem
- Email subject changes with the issue type
- Runs nonstop in Docker with auto-restart
Under the hood
- Mounts Windows SMB shares as Docker volumes so a Linux container can read factory drives
- Builds the HTML email itself and hands it to n8n, so mail delivery stays in one place
